This place enchants at any time of the year: in spring it is surrounded by lush greenery, in summer it attracts with its mirror surface, in autumn it delights with the colors of the forest, and in winter it transforms into a real fairy tale under a cover of snow.
This beautiful location will definitely appeal to most tourists. Therefore, every year thousands of tourists visit it, eager to see the incredible beauty of nature with their own eyes, breathe fresh mountain air, and touch the ancient legends that envelop this place. It is definitely worth mentioning the mythology of this place. Like most picturesque corners of the Carpathians, Synevyr is surrounded by beautiful legends. The most famous of them tells the story of the love of the count's daughter Syny and a simple shepherd Vyr. The young people sincerely fell in love with each other, but the girl's father was against such a union. He ordered Vyr to be killed, and the young man was killed with a stone. Learning about the death of her beloved, Syny cried for a long time, and her tears turned into a large lake.
That is why the body of water got the name Synevyr - from the combination of the names of the lovers. And the small island in the middle of the lake symbolizes Vyr's heart, which forever remained with his beloved.
Infrastructure and recreation
On the territory of the Synevyr national park, all conditions for comfortable recreation have been created. There are equipped tourist trails, picnic areas, places with gazebos and wooden tables. Near the lake, you can find several huts, cafes, and restaurants that offer traditional Transcarpathian cuisine: bograch, banosh, kulesh, mushroom dishes.
For those who love active recreation, ecological trails of varying difficulty are available. The most popular route is a walk around the lake, which is about 1.5 km long. You can also visit the "Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center" located nearby.
In the surrounding villages, there are many private cottages and hotels where you can stay overnight. Many tourists choose local cottages to experience the true color of Transcarpathia, taste homemade cuisine, and communicate with hospitable locals.

How to get there?
There are several ways to get to Synevyr:
- By car. The most convenient option is to travel by your own vehicle. From Ivano-Frankivsk or Lviv, you need to head towards Mukachevo, and then through the valley to Mizhhirya. From Mizhhirya, the road leads directly to the lake.
- By public transport. Buses run from Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk to Mizhhirya. From there, you can take a minibus to the village of Synevyrska Polyana or use a taxi.
- Organized tours. Many travel companies offer day trips to Lake Synevyr. This is convenient for those who do not want to worry about logistics.
The road to the lake is quite picturesque, although it is winding. It passes through mountain passes, opening stunning panoramas of the Carpathians.
Fishing
Fishing in Lake Synevyr is prohibited because this is the territory of a national park, and the body of water is protected. A unique ecosystem has been preserved here that cannot tolerate human interference.
Some species of fish, including trout, live in the waters of the lake, but catching them is categorically prohibited. Instead, there are special places for fishing in the nearby rivers and ponds where tourists can test their luck.

- Lake Synevyr is considered the "most photogenic" lake in Ukraine - tens of thousands of photos are taken here every year.
- In 1989, a sculptural composition "Syny and Vyr" was installed on its shore, symbolizing the legend of the lovers. The height of the wooden figures reaches 13 meters.
- The lake is often used as a filming location for movies and clips. It has become the backdrop for many Ukrainian and foreign works.
- The water in the lake is so clean that almost no algae develop in it.
- Synevyr is included in the list of "Seven Natural Wonders of Ukraine".
- According to ecologists, the lake creates its own microclimate: the air temperature around it in summer is lower by several degrees than in the surrounding villages.
