However, Afghan authorities have denied any militant casualties, instead stating the victims were civilians, including women and children. Major land border crossings remain largely closed following deadly clashes in October that killed over 70 people from both sides.
Islamabad has consistently accused Kabul of failing to curb armed groups that launch attacks into Pakistan from Afghan soil, allegations the Taliban government rejects. According to Pakistan's Ministry of Information, Taliban forces are being "punished" in the Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur sectors, with initial reports confirming heavy Afghan losses, including the destruction of multiple posts and equipment.
