Fuel Costs on the Rise in Ukraine
As of March 19, 2026, fuel prices have increased in Ukraine. The average cost for a liter of A-95 gasoline has reached 71.33 UAH, while the average price for a liter of diesel fuel is now 79.68 UAH. Prices for A-95, A-95+, and A-100 gasoline have risen by approximately 1 UAH per liter, with similar increases seen for diesel and diesel+ fuel. Meanwhile, prices for autogas have largely remained stable, although one retail network was noted to have reduced its price by 0.43 UAH. These price hikes come amid broader global energy market volatility.
Market Conditions and Economic Impact
The highest prices for A-95 gasoline and diesel are currently observed at the Okko, WOG, and Socar networks. In contrast, the 'BRSM-Nafta' chain offers the lowest prices for both A-95 gasoline and diesel. Prices for all fuel types remained unchanged at three other major retailers. In response to the market movements, Ukraine's Antimonopoly Committee has announced it will launch an investigation into the fuel market situation.
This domestic price increase coincides with a surge in global oil prices. For the first time since 2022, the price of oil has surpassed the $100 per barrel mark, with futures for U.S. crude oil jumping by 14.7%. The price of Brent crude oil reached $104. In the context of agricultural production, Taras Vysotskyi noted that fuel expenses account for roughly 10–15% of production costs. Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the government will attempt to curb further increases in gasoline prices.
"The rise in fuel prices in Ukraine is a significant indicator that can affect the country's overall economic situation, particularly the expenses of consumers and producers." - Taras Vysotskyi
High fuel costs can lead to increased prices for other goods and services, potentially exacerbating inflationary pressures. The Antimonopoly Committee's investigation may identify the causes behind the price hikes and propose mechanisms to contain them, which would be a crucial step toward stabilizing the market.
