Pope Leo XIV during his Sunday address at St. Peter's Square called for prayer for peace and expressed hope for a peaceful resolution in the world. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of dialogue over violence, urging all in attendance to pray for reconciliation and calm.
“Peace is the aspiration of all nations and the painful plea of those who suffer from war. We ask the Lord to touch the hearts and inspire the minds of leaders,” the Pope emphasized.
Pope Leo XIV also welcomed Ukrainian pilgrims and expressed his admiration for their determination to visit the Holy Doors. During the audience with the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC, he expressed support for the Ukrainian people and noted their faith and hope even in the difficult times of war. The meeting with the head of the UGCC underscored the Pope's closeness to the Ukrainian people.
