Paris Negotiations: The USA Announced Significant Progress in Security Guarantees for Ukraine

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced significant progress in the negotiations in Paris regarding the 'Ukraine Prosperity Pact'. According to him, the participants recognized the complexity of the issues related to territories. The negotiations lasted 10 hours, and a continuation of discussions is planned for January 7 in a more focused format, indicating an active search for pathways to achieve compromise.

On January 6, Ukraine, France, and Great Britain signed a declaration of intent regarding the future deployment of multinational forces in Ukraine after the war ends. According to the Paris Declaration, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, numbering 800,000, will become the first line of defense within the new security architecture.

The participants expressed hope for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz noted that Germany would take responsibility for the security of Ukraine and the entire continent, and emphasized the importance of a ceasefire based on strong security guarantees. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer pointed out that allies are closer to peace than ever but still face the most challenging steps ahead.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized a clear goal – to provide reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.

At the same time, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted that these negotiations, as well as the efforts of European, American, and Ukrainian diplomacy, offer a chance for peace, although they do not guarantee it.

Thus, the negotiations in Paris have become an important step toward achieving security agreements for Ukraine, taking into account the complex issues that require further discussion.

The developments in Paris indicate an activation of international diplomacy concerning security for Ukraine. The signing of the declaration of intent regarding the deployment of multinational forces demonstrates the allies' desire to ensure stability in the region after the conflict ends. It is crucial that negotiations continue, as resolving territorial issues and establishing reliable security guarantees remain key aspects for achieving peace.
