Parviz Nasibov to Miss European Championships
Two-time Olympic medalist Parviz Nasibov will not compete at the European Wrestling Championships, which begin next week in Tirana, Albania. His absence is due to an unsuccessful qualification attempt. At a qualifying tournament in France, Nasibov was defeated by his teammate and domestic rival, Dmytro Vasyliev.
Despite this setback, Ukraine will field a full contingent of 30 athletes at the European Championships. The competition features all three wrestling disciplines: men's freestyle, women's wrestling, and Greco-Roman wrestling, with 10 athletes competing in each category.
Parviz Nasibov confirmed his absence from the championship, stating: 'I am missing the European Championships in Tirana because I failed to qualify, losing to my teammate and rival Dmytro Vasyliev at the tournament in France. Now I must focus on the Ukrainian Championships and qualifying for the World Championships.'
