Ukraine’s National Policy on Internally Displaced Persons
Ukraine’s Ministry of Social Policy is advancing its national strategy to establish temporary housing reserves and secure accommodation for internally displaced persons (IDPs). Across various regions, temporary commissions have been set up to evaluate applications from local communities seeking state subsidies for these efforts.
Support for Lviv Region Communities
In Lviv Oblast, five out of seven submitted applications have been approved for state assistance. The communities set to receive this funding include:
- Velykolyubinska
- Novoyarychivska
- Komarnivska
- Novorozdilska
- Yavorivska
A key requirement for all projects is accessibility: at least 20% of housing units must be adapted for people with disabilities and those with limited mobility.
Through these measures, the Ministry of Social Policy aims to improve living conditions for IDPs and create comfortable environments for all population groups.
These initiatives are part of the broader state strategy to support internally displaced persons who need housing and social integration. The allocation of state subsidies will not only enhance living standards but also boost infrastructure development in the recipient communities.
In addition to housing initiatives, the Ukrainian government is also enhancing financial support for internally displaced persons. Recently, the extension of IDP payments to 30 months and the introduction of child aid without income checks starting February 2026 reflect a comprehensive approach to assist vulnerable populations.
