The Passing of Patriarch Filaret
Patriarch Filaret of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine has died after a severe illness. His health had deteriorated, leading to his hospitalization on March 9, and he subsequently passed away in the hospital. In accordance with his spiritual testament, which specified his final resting place, the Patriarch's burial will take place at the St. Volodymyr's Cathedral in Kyiv. He served for half a century at this very cathedral.
A public farewell for the Patriarch will begin at the St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral. The viewing will be held on the evening of March 20 and throughout the day on March 21. The funeral and burial rites are scheduled for March 22. A procession will then depart from St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral to St. Volodymyr's Cathedral for the final interment.
