Leadership Transition at PBSA
The Professional Background Screening Association (PBSA) has announced a change in its board leadership. Kathy Hartley, a representative from Accurate, has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board, succeeding Tim Gordon of InfoMart. Tim Gordon will remain on the board for an additional year to ensure a smooth transition and to support the new leadership.
As part of this restructuring, a new Chair for the Europe and Africa Council has also been appointed. Will Hoggarth from chexperts has been selected for this role. Founded in 2003, PBSA is a global trade association with over 850 member companies worldwide. The association's Executive Director is Melissa Sorensen.
Statements from the New Leadership
Kathy Hartley expressed her immense gratitude to her colleagues for their trust in appointing her to this role. She noted that PBSA is entering a new phase of maturity and highlighted the increasing complexity of the regulatory environment, which demands that the association support its members through education, government relations, and expertise.
Tim Gordon commented on the changes, noting that PBSA has undergone significant transformations in its approach to industry risks and organizational structure. He believes the shift to a dedicated global staff structure was a defining step forward.
Melissa Sorensen added that strong regional leadership is crucial as background screening continues to expand globally. The PBSA plays a key role in setting industry standards and best practices for employment screening.
These leadership changes at PBSA reflect the association's strategic approach to adapting to an increasingly complex regulatory landscape. The appointment of new leaders signals the organization's intent to enhance support for its members and optimize its governance structure to respond more effectively to industry challenges. The successful transition also underscores the importance of professional succession planning in organizations operating in rapidly changing environments.
