The website of the Pension Fund of Ukraine reports that in 2025, education sector workers may receive a pension for years of service if they reach the age of 55 and have worked in pedagogical activities for at least 30 years. This opportunity applies to all categories of educators, including teachers, educators, pedagogues, and employees of additional education institutions.
Since the beginning of 2016, the conditions for obtaining a pension for years of service have become stricter: now one must reach 55 years of age and have at least 30 years of experience. An exception is made for educators who already had 25 years of experience at that time - they retained the right to a pension at any age.
The amount of the pension for years of service is determined individually based on the average salary, duration of insurance experience, and individual income level. In 2025, the average amount of such a pension is 5000-6000 hryvnias at the average salary of a teacher.
Salary increases for years of service
- from 3 to 10 years - 10%,
- from 10 to 20 years - 20%,
- over 20 years - 30%.
An important condition is that such a pension can only be received after resigning from a pedagogical position. If a person takes up a teaching job again, payments will be suspended until they completely cease their employment in the educational sector.
It is better to choose activities so that one can retire at 55 with sufficient experience. In Ukraine, in 2025, the possibility of retirement for years of service for pedagogical workers has been extended. The amount of the pension is determined individually, and an increase in the salary is added depending on the years of service.
