In May 2026, some Ukrainian pensioners aged 65 and over will automatically receive increased payments. The recalculation applies to those who have a full insurance record and are not working. This is reported by 'TSN'.
Pensions 65+ in May 2026: who will receive increased payments
The increase is related to the rise in the minimum wage, which amounts to 8647 UAH in 2026. By law, pensions for citizens aged 65+ must be no less than 40% of this amount.
In fact, the state has set a higher threshold - 3758 UAH. This is the level to which payments are adjusted for those whose pensions are lower.
The right to recalculation is granted to:
-
men with a work record of 35 years or more
-
women with a work record of 30 years or more
-
pensioners who are not working and do not engage in entrepreneurial activities.
At the same time, those who already have a pension of more than 3758 UAH will not receive an increase.
Pension recalculation 65+: how the mechanism works
The procedure is carried out automatically by the Pension Fund of Ukraine. There is no need to submit applications or contact institutions.
The system independently checks:
-
insurance record
-
employment status
-
amount of current pension
The amount of the increase is determined individually. It depends on the official income from which contributions were paid during employment.
For working pensioners, recalculation does not apply. They will be able to receive an increase only after retirement.
The mechanism acts not as a one-time payment, but as a continuous support tool. Its purpose is to ensure a minimum income level for people with sufficient work experience.
Let us remind you that Ukrainians with disabilities of group II will also receive increased pensions in April 2026.
