Updated Disability Pensions for Group III in Ukraine: New Rates and Upcoming Indexation

Оновлення виплат для осіб з інвалідністю групи III в Україні: нові розміри та плани на індексацію.

Revised Social Standards for Group III Disability Pensioners

Updated social benefit standards for recipients of Group III disability pensions will remain in effect in Ukraine from February 1. The payment amount depends on the individual's insurance record, employment status, and the cause of their disability. Non-working pensioners are entitled to a minimum of 2,520 hryvnias per month, while the minimum for those who are employed is 2,093 hryvnias.

Individuals disabled due to war are eligible for a payment of 9,478 hryvnias, regardless of their insurance history. Those with a Group III disability who also sustained their disability as a result of the war will receive this same amount. Military personnel who became disabled during service or within three months of discharge receive a pension calculated as 60% of their monetary allowance.

Anticipated Indexation and Changes to Social Standards

A spring indexation of payments is expected to range from 11% to 15%. This adjustment is applied only after discharge from service or upon recalculation of the insurance record. The subsistence minimum for persons unable to work has been set at 2,595 hryvnias, effective from January 1, 2026. These changes are designed to provide more effective support for persons with disabilities and improve their financial situation.

These reforms to social standards represent a significant step in supporting persons with disabilities in Ukraine, particularly during the ongoing post-war recovery period. The introduction of new payments and the pension indexation aim to enhance financial stability for these population groups, which is critically important given the current economic challenges. Such initiatives can also foster the social integration of persons with disabilities, a vital aspect of broader societal development. The Ukrainian pension system has undergone several adjustments since the full-scale invasion to address the needs of vulnerable groups.
