New identification rules for pensioners
From 2026, pensioners who do not pass physical identification by December 31, 2025, risk being left without pension payments. This particularly concerns individuals who are abroad or in temporarily occupied territories.
It is important to note that identification must be done in person at the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU), at a bank, or via video conferencing. The option to use 'Dii.Signature' or to pass identification through Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions is also available.
Video identification process
For those choosing video identification, registration on the PFU web portal or at the Contact Center is mandatory. Pensioners who are abroad have the opportunity to obtain a document confirming their stay at Ukrainian embassies or consulates.
This innovation is aimed at ensuring control over payments and preventing fraud with pension funds.
The introduction of new identification rules for pensioners is an important step towards increasing transparency in the field of pension payments. This can significantly reduce instances of fraud and ensure that funds intended to support elderly people are used for their purpose.
It is expected that the implementation of these measures will also require active participation from pensioners in the process, which may create certain difficulties, especially for those living far from Ukraine or in conditions of limited access to services.
