Ukraine’s Pension Fund Finances May 2023 Obligations
As of May 17, 2023, Ukraine’s Pension Fund has disbursed a total of 63.4 billion UAH from its budget. This funding supports various social programs amid ongoing economic pressures. Of this amount, 48.4 billion UAH was directed toward pension payments, distributed as follows:
- 7.6 billion UAH via Ukrposhta (the national postal service);
- 40.8 billion UAH through authorized banks.
Additionally, 3.3 billion UAH was allocated for housing subsidies and benefits, while insurance payments received 2.5 billion UAH—of which 1.1 billion UAH covered sick leave compensation. Social assistance and other payments accounted for 9.2 billion UAH. During May, Pension Fund offices handled 807,900 service requests from citizens.
These figures highlight the Pension Fund’s active role in maintaining social safety nets. The substantial allocation to pensions underscores efforts to ensure dignified living standards, especially given current economic challenges. Subsidies and social aid further demonstrate state attempts to offset household costs for utilities and healthcare, which remain critical for vulnerable populations.
