Webinar Focuses on Accessibility

On May 28, 2026, as part of the National Accessibility Week, the Pension Fund of Ukraine hosted a webinar titled 'Accessibility – the Standard, Not the Exception' for its employees. The event brought together officials and experts, including:

  • Valeriy Sushkevych, Chair of the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine (a public union);
  • Iryna Kovpashko, Deputy Chair of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;
  • Speakers Yuriy Vasylchenko and Ruslan Topchan from the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine.

The webinar aimed to explore how to build barrier-free environments and make social services accessible to all citizens. Sushkevych outlined key strategies for creating such spaces, stressing the need for equal access to services and resources for people with disabilities. This initiative marks a significant step toward embedding accessibility principles across Ukraine, highlighting the urgency of reforming how social services are delivered.

Why Accessibility Matters Now

The National Accessibility Week continues to shine a spotlight on pressing issues of equality and inclusion, pushing for a society where barrier-free access becomes the rule rather than the exception.

By hosting this webinar, the Pension Fund underscores the value of cross-sector collaboration in advancing accessibility. Discussions at this level—involving government bodies and civil organizations—are essential to ensuring that all Ukrainian citizens can equally access social services. Sustaining this dialogue can drive more effective policies in the field.

As the focus on accessibility intensifies, it's vital to recognize how initiatives like the recent National Accessibility Week complement efforts in promoting inclusive practices across various sectors. This week serves as a reminder of the ongoing need for awareness and action in creating environments that support all individuals, especially those with disabilities.
