The Necessity of Physical Identification for Pension Recipients
The Pension Fund of Ukraine has announced the necessity of undergoing mandatory physical identification for certain categories of pension recipients by December 31, 2025. This decision was formalized by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 299, adopted on February 11, 2025. The identification applies to individuals living in temporarily occupied territories, as well as citizens residing abroad.
Ways to Confirm Identity
To undergo identification, pension recipients have the opportunity to use one of five methods to confirm their identity:
- Visit the service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine in person.
- Undergo identification via video conferencing.
- Online identification on the Pension Fund portal.
- Identify at an embassy or consulate for those residing abroad.
- Identity confirmation at a branch of an authorized bank.
Therefore, pension recipients who fall into the specified categories should pay attention to this deadline and choose a convenient method to confirm their identity.
This initiative of the Pension Fund aims to ensure security and control over pension payments, especially in the challenging circumstances in Ukraine due to military aggression. The identification process will help avoid fraud and abuse, ensuring that pensions are received by those who are truly entitled to them.
