Ukrainian pensioners who are entitled to a pension for years of service face the problem of losing almost half of their payments when transitioning to retirement at the age. The Pension Fund of Ukraine applies unfair calculations, violating the decisions of the Supreme Court.
According to journalist Iryna Polyakova, pensioners consider the pension calculation system to be unfair. Many of them continue to work after receiving a pension for years of service, but the transition to old-age pension does not bring the expected increase in payments.
«Ask any pensioner whether the state calculates pensions fairly. You will definitely hear: 'No'», — notes journalist Iryna Polyakova, emphasizing the general discontent with the pension system.
The problem lies in the incorrect interpretation of the transition from one type of pension to another. The Pension Fund considers this a transfer, which leads to the application of outdated average salary indicators and significant reductions in payments. The monthly difference can amount to over 4000 hryvnias, which is almost 50,000 hryvnias in unpaid funds per year.
Pensioners are recommended to fight for their rights, file applications to the Pension Fund for the transition to an old-age pension, and go to court in case of inappropriate calculations. This is important not only because of financial losses but also due to the possibility of receiving additional benefits and increasing payments.
Ukrainian pensioners have the right to fair pension calculations and should not face systemic injustice in the pension system.
