Initiating a Pension Recalculation in Ukraine

Ukrainian pensioners have the right to request an individual recalculation of their pension under specific circumstances. This process can be completed online via the 'Diia' portal or the Pension Fund website, or in person at the relevant institutions. The application review period is 10 days. This digital initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize public services and make them more accessible.

Grounds for Submitting a Recalculation Request

An application to review payment amounts can be submitted for several reasons:

  • If a pensioner continues to work, they are entitled to a recalculation of their service record every two years, which directly impacts the pension amount.
  • Newly discovered documents from the past, such as old work record books, certificates of higher education, or military service documents that were not previously considered, can also serve as grounds for recalculation.
  • A change in social status, for example, receiving a disability group or retiring due to the loss of a breadwinner.
  • A change in the subsistence minimum; while this adjustment is usually automatic, it is important to verify that the increase has been applied to your specific case.

To initiate a pension recalculation online, a few simple steps must be followed. First, select the 'Pension Recalculation' service. Next, fill out a short form and upload scanned copies of new documents confirming service record, awards, or changed circumstances. Finally, sign the application using a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES). To submit the application, a pensioner will need their passport and identification code (RNOKPP), as well as their work record book or other proof of service before 2004, such as a military ID or children's birth certificates. A sample application form can be obtained from an administrative service center.

Therefore, pensioners have the opportunity to independently initiate a recalculation of their pension payments by using modern online services or by contacting the relevant institutions.

This initiative allows pensioners to adjust their pension payments in line with changes in their life and social status, which is an important step in ensuring financial stability.

The expansion of opportunities for pension recalculation through online services also underscores the state's commitment to digitizing services and simplifying the process for citizens.
