Identity Verification Required for Pensioners Living Outside Ukraine
All pensioners residing temporarily abroad or in territories under temporary Russian occupation must confirm their identity with the Ukrainian Pension Fund by December 31 each year. This obligation applies not only to pension recipients but also to those receiving insurance payments. The verification requirement covers two groups: individuals living temporarily outside Ukraine and those residing in regions currently occupied by Russia.
Methods to Complete Identification
Verification can be completed in person at a Pension Fund service center or at an authorized bank branch. Alternatively, pensioners can confirm their identity remotely via video call using the 'Application for Identification via Videoconference' service available on the Pension Fund’s web portal or by contacting the Pension Fund’s call center at the following numbers:
- 0 800 503 753
- (044) 281-08-70
- (044) 281-08-71
An additional remote option is through the 'Diia.Signature' (also known as 'Diia ID'). Pensioners living abroad can also undergo identification at Ukrainian diplomatic missions overseas.
To verify when identity confirmation was last completed, pensioners can use the 'My Identification' feature on the Pension Fund’s website or the mobile app 'Pension Fund'. However, annual identity confirmation is not required for those who have relocated from occupied territories to Ukrainian-controlled areas and have updated their pension payments to their new address.
This requirement is based on Article 47-1 of the Law 'On Compulsory State Pension Insurance' and Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 299 dated February 11, 2025.
This information was provided by the Ukrainian Pension Fund.
Given the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the rising number of displaced individuals, this measure ensures proper oversight of pension disbursements and aims to prevent misuse. It is crucial for all pension and insurance payment recipients living abroad or in occupied regions to comply with these updated rules to maintain their social benefits.
