US Shutdown Delayed Delivery of Patriots to Ukraine: Statement by Pistorius

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius reported that the transfer of additional Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine has been delayed due to the shutdown in the US. This was stated during a joint press conference in Berlin with defense ministers from other countries.



The minister also noted that Russia is becoming increasingly aggressive in terms of air attacks due to the development of its technical capabilities and the increase in the number of attacks.



Boris Pistorius emphasized that the Ukrainian air defense is finding it more challenging to intercept the enormous number of drones and cruise missiles due to technological advancements and a decrease in interception rates.


Ending the Longest Shutdown in US History


US President Donald Trump signed a law on government funding, officially ending the longest shutdown in the country's history. It lasted a record 43 days.



Ukraine has already received three new Patriot missile systems from Germany. Negotiations for providing a fourth system are ongoing, and Berlin is ready to transfer a total of five such systems to Ukraine.



Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the receipt of additional 'Patriot' systems and expressed gratitude to Germany for its support and the need for further strengthening of air defense.



After the end of the longest shutdown in US history, Ukraine received three new Patriot missile systems from Germany, and negotiations for the transfer of two more are ongoing. President Zelensky emphasized the importance of support and enhancing air defense capabilities.
