Next Stage of 'Housing for IDPs from Occupied Territories' Program Begins
Starting May 1, a fresh phase of Ukraine's 'Housing for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Temporarily Occupied Territories' initiative has been activated. This scheme allows individuals displaced from Russian-occupied regions who hold housing certificates to secure their allocated funds through the Diia mobile application. The government has set aside 6.6 billion hryvnias to assist roughly 3,300 families in need of housing support.
Each housing voucher remains valid for five years. Ukrposhta has been designated as the program's operator, handling the reservation process. Applicants can expect a decision on their booking request within five business days, and they must finalize a purchase agreement within 60 days after the reservation is confirmed.
Additional Funding for the 'yeVidnovlennya' Program
In a related move, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved an extra 2 billion hryvnias for the 'yeVidnovlennya' (e-Renovation) program. This injection of funds will enable nearly 20,000 families to receive repair compensation. For minor damages, the maximum payout is set at 200,000 hryvnias. In more severe cases, compensation for apartments can reach up to 350,000 hryvnias, while owners of private houses may receive up to 500,000 hryvnias.
The 'Housing for IDPs from Occupied Territories' program offers displaced individuals flexibility in using their designated funds. Eligible options include:
- purchasing a completed apartment or private house,
- investing in a property under construction,
- using the amount as a down payment under the 'yeOselya' mortgage program.
This latest phase is designed to improve living conditions for people affected by the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine.
This stage of the 'Housing for IDPs from Occupied Territories' program marks a significant step in supporting internally displaced persons who face severe challenges in securing housing. The allocated funds and flexible use of housing certificates can greatly ease their transition to new living situations. The additional financing for the 'yeVidnovlennya' program further underscores the government's commitment to restoring Ukraine's housing stock, a critical need amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
