In Ukraine, there is a list of reasons under which the Pension Fund can temporarily suspend pension payments. Some Ukrainians risk being left without money due to errors in documents, lack of identification, or prolonged non-use of funds. This is stated in Article 49 of Law No. 1058. It is mentioned by “On Pension”.

Reasons for pension suspension

Pension payments can be suspended in several cases when the pensioner violates the requirements of the legislation. The main reasons are:

  • submission of false information or errors in documents that require clarification;

  • death of the person or official recognition of them as missing;

  • failure to pass annual identification, if it is mandatory;

  • non-use of pension funds for six months;

  • living abroad without confirmation of status and compliance with Ukrainian legislation;

  • working in a position that entitles one to a retirement pension if such a pension has already been granted.

It is emphasized that for Ukrainians abroad, there are additional requirements. To ensure that payments are not halted, it is necessary to have a Ukrainian bank account, pass annual identification, and confirm that the person is not receiving funding from the occupying administrations of the Russian Federation.

Working pensioners

Most citizens can officially work and receive a pension simultaneously. The restrictions apply only to those who have a retirement pension and are reemployed in a position that again qualifies for the same pension. In this case, payments may be suspended.

How to restore payments

Pension payments can only be restored after the cause of the suspension is eliminated. For this, it is necessary to contact the nearest Pension Fund office, provide updated documents or undergo the procedures that were missed. After verifying the information, payments are expected to be restored within 10 days.
