On October 1, a wave of autumn bad weather will hit Ukraine: atmospheric fronts will bring rain across almost the entire territory of the country, and the first snow will already fall in the mountains. Meanwhile, forecasters warn of the approaching frosts by the end of the week.
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Tuesday will bring moderate precipitation to most regions, with light rain expected in the northern areas. In the highlands of the Carpathians, wet snow is forecasted instead of rain.
Wind and Temperature
The wind will blow mainly from the east at a speed of 7-12 m/s. In the northeastern part of the country, gusts may reach 15-20 m/s, which requires caution on the roads.
The temperature regime will remain cool: at night the air will warm up to 3-8 degrees Celsius, during the day the thermometers will show 5-10 degrees. The warmest will be in Transcarpathia and the south of the country – there the daytime temperature will reach 11-16 degrees. In the highland areas of the Carpathians, both at night and during the day, the temperature will remain around zero degrees.
Forecast for Kyiv and Kyiv Region
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, cloudy weather with light rain is expected, which will pass locally at night. The eastern wind will pick up to 7-12 m/s. The temperature in the area at night will be 3-8 degrees Celsius, during the day 5-10 degrees. In the capital, it will be a bit warmer: at night 4-6 degrees, during the day 7-9 degrees.
Warnings and Call for Caution
Meteorologists have issued a level one danger warning for the Kyiv region: frosts on the soil surface from 0 to 3 degrees below zero are forecasted at night on October 3.
Wet snow in the highlands of the Carpathians will continue for the next two days due to the activity of atmospheric fronts. Rescuers urge tourists and residents of mountainous areas to exercise caution.
