The Pension Fund of Ukraine has clarified the rules for appointing an allowance for caring for a child with disabilities for single parents. This payment is provided regardless of whether the person actually providing this care is employed, studying, or a serviceman.

According to the PFU, this supplement can be received by a single father or mother raising a child with disabilities up to 18 years old. The main point here is the actual care for the child, not the official status of a guardian.

Legislative basis

The rules for appointing this allowance are established in the Procedure for the Appointment and Payment of State Social Assistance to Persons with Disabilities from Childhood and Children with Disabilities. This document states that those who constantly provide care for a child with a disability have the right to the allowance, regardless of their social status.

Who is considered a single parent

According to the PFU's explanations, a single parent is considered to be the person who is not the spouse of the child's mother. At the same time, parenthood must be officially confirmed according to documents or recognized by a court.

This provision supports single parents who are raising children with special needs and require additional assistance for proper care.
