Teenagers in Lviv Emergency Stopped the Elevator: One of Them Fell into the Shaft

Підлітки у Львові зупинили ліфт: один із них впав у шахту.

Incident with the Elevator in Lviv

In Lviv, young people, while being in a state of alcohol intoxication, decided to emergency stop the elevator, as a result of which one of them fell into the shaft and sustained injuries. The incident occurred on January 2 around 4:00 AM in a residential building at Mykolaychuka Street, 5. There were three boys in the elevator, who were under the influence of alcohol.

One of the young men, born in 2007, sustained injuries and was taken to medical personnel for necessary assistance. The elevator where the incident occurred was put into operation in 1977. In 2017, it underwent a major repair, which, according to representatives of the Shevchenkivskyi District Administration, did not raise complaints from the residents of the building regarding its operation.

The Importance of Following Safety Rules

In connection with this case, rescuers emphasized the importance of following safety rules when using elevators. In particular, they recommend:

  • not using the elevator for children under 12 years old without adult supervision;
  • in case of sudden elevator stoppage, to call the dispatcher or contact the rescue service at number 101.

This incident highlights the importance of adhering to safety rules while using elevators, especially among the youth, who may underestimate the dangers associated with alcohol intoxication. In cases where elevators are used under the influence of alcohol, the risk of injuries significantly increases, indicating the need to raise public awareness about safety. Rescuers call for caution and remind about the importance of following elevator usage rules in residential buildings.
