Ukraine supported the global Code for the Protection of Tourists: what it will change

Україна приєдналася до світової ініціативи щодо безпеки туристів: які наслідки це матиме.

Participation in the UN Tourism General Assembly in the capital of Saudi Arabia — Riyadh — was important for the Ukrainian delegation. They expressed their support for the International Code for the Protection of Tourists, which promotes the protection of tourists' rights in emergencies.

In addition, a Working Group on Tourism and Climate Action was formed at the Assembly, which included 29 countries, including Ukraine. This initiative aims to develop sustainable tourism models. Ukraine also supported the Riyadh Declaration on the Future of Global Tourism, aimed at creating safe and responsible tourism.

“Tourism can be a tool for resilience and climate action. Our task is to make the recovery of the industry ecological, modern, and innovative. Even under challenging conditions, the Ukrainian tourism sector continues to implement ‘green’ approaches — enhancing energy efficiency, reducing waste, and supporting community ecological initiatives,” emphasized the Head of DART Natalya Tabaka.

Such steps will contribute to the development of tourism in Ukraine, attracting foreign tourists and increasing trust in the country as a safe tourist destination.
