Six Ukrainian Regions Launch Pilot 'Mriya Preschool' Program in 40 Kindergartens

Шість українських областей розпочали експериментальний проект Мрія для малюків у 40 дитячих садках.

The 'Mriya Preschool' Initiative

Forty preschools across six regions of Ukraine are now participating in a pilot project called 'Mriya Preschool' (Mriya.Doshkillia). The selected institutions are located in Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. This initiative is part of the broader 'Mriya' ecosystem, which aims to connect early childhood education with primary schooling through digital tools designed to enhance the learning experience.

Key features of 'Mriya Preschool' include:

  • Attendance tracking and reporting,
  • Lesson planning,
  • An AI-powered lesson plan builder,
  • Parent notifications,
  • Child development content.

Once the pilot phase concludes, the 'Mriya Preschool' system will be made available to all Ukrainian kindergartens. School administrators can already submit requests to join this digital ecosystem. Separately, the Cabinet of Ministers has approved changes to the procedure for tracking preschool and school-age children. Under the new rules, information about children who are not attending educational institutions will be automatically forwarded to juvenile police and child protection services.

Safety and Oversight in Education

Additionally, a new mandate requires mandatory background checks for all candidates seeking to work with children. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko commented:

'This is a crucial step in building a unified digital education ecosystem that will accompany a child from their first day in kindergarten all the way through graduation. Without unnecessary paperwork.'

The project aims not only to modernize educational processes but also to strengthen child safety and ensure proper oversight of their learning journey.

The 'Mriya Preschool' initiative represents a significant move toward the digital transformation of Ukrainian education, integrating information technology into the classroom. By equipping educators and parents with modern tools, it promises to improve interaction and, ultimately, the quality of education at every stage. The introduction of automated child tracking systems is also intended to boost safety and accountability across the educational sector.

As the 'Mriya Preschool' program seeks to revolutionize early childhood education, other regions are also making strides in modernizing their enrollment processes. For instance, Kyiv is set to introduce a new kindergarten enrollment system this May, further enhancing accessibility and efficiency for parents. This alignment in educational initiatives reflects a broader commitment to improving the quality and safety of learning environments for children across Ukraine.
