Train Delays in Ukraine
Due to hostilities in Ukraine, dozens of long-distance trains are experiencing delays. The longest delay is observed for train No. 775/776 Sumy – Kyiv, which is delayed by 17 hours and 15 minutes. Other routes are also facing significant delays:
- train No. 93/94 Kharkiv – Chełm is delayed by 11 hours and 30 minutes;
- train No. 21/22 Kharkiv – Lviv is running with a delay of over 9 hours;
- trains from Kharkiv to Odesa, from Zhytomyr to Odesa, from Zaporizhzhia to Lviv and Yasinia, as well as from Kryvyi Rih to Kyiv are delayed by approximately 7-8 hours;
- the delay of train No. 37/38 Zaporizhzhia – Kyiv exceeds 7 hours;
- trains No. 53/54 Dnipro – Odesa, No. 79/80 Dnipro – Lviv and No. 119/120 Dnipro – Chełm are delayed for almost 7 hours;
- train No. 765/766 Odesa – Kyiv has a delay of 6 hours and 40 minutes;
- trains No. 83/84 Dnipro – Mukachevo and No. 285/286 Dnipro – Lviv are delayed for 6 hours and 22 minutes.
Return routes are also experiencing delays:
- train No. 119/120 Chełm – Dnipro is delayed by over 7 hours;
- train No. 79/80 Lviv – Dnipro – over 7 hours;
- train No. 147/148 Odesa – Zhytomyr – over 6 hours.
Furthermore, several trains from Solotvyno, Yasinia, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Uzhhorod, Chełm, and Przemyśl are delayed by 3-5 hours. Some other trains have delays ranging from a few minutes to two hours.
Attacks on Ukraine
On the night of August 27, Russia attacked Ukraine with rockets and 258 drones. Air defense forces managed to shoot down seven Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles. The main targets of the strikes were Odesa, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Zaporizhzhia, reports the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In Kyiv, the fall of a Russian drone and debris was recorded in the Pechersk and Holosiivskyi districts. Meanwhile, a Russian drone attacked a shopping center in the Osnovyansky district of Kharkiv, resulting in one death and injuries.
Train delays in Ukraine caused by hostilities significantly impact transportation infrastructure and the daily life of citizens. In a situation where railway transport security is at risk due to active military actions, passengers are facing difficulties in planning their journeys. These events indicate the continuation of military conflicts in Ukraine, which also affects the humanitarian situation in regions experiencing attacks. The safety of the population and the restoration of stability remain priority tasks for the state.
