Honorary IOC member Lambis Nikolaou passed away at the age of 89. The International Olympic Committee expressed its condolences and emphasized the great legacy he left in the world of sports. IOC President Kirsty Coventry stated that he genuinely dedicated himself to Olympic ideals.


Lambis Nikolaou was an honorary IOC member, an active participant in the Olympic movement, and the president of the Hellenic Olympic Committee. He also made significant contributions to Athens being chosen to host the 2004 Olympic Games.


«The FIS Council voted to not allow athletes in individual neutral status (AIN) to participate in qualifying competitions for the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan. Each international federation retains the right to independently decide whether to allow these athletes to qualify or not,» FIS reported.

It has also become known that Russian speed skater Daniil Naidenyshev, who was recognized as a neutral athlete, supported the military actions of the Russian occupier and liked posts related to Russian aggression.
