In Ukraine, some military pensioners may receive a monthly supplement of almost 1300 Hryvnias. The payment is provided for non-working pensioners who support dependents. This is reported by Channel 24.

Who is entitled to a pension supplement in 2026

The supplement can be arranged for non-working military pensioners of the rank of private, sergeant, senior officer, and officer.

The payment is calculated:

  • to the pension for years of service;

  • to the disability pension.

A key condition is the presence of dependents.

Additionally, the pensioner must not be officially employed or receiving other income.

The Pension Fund explains that this support system is aimed at families where one pension is often the main source of income for several people.

Why the amount of the supplement increased in 2026

The amount of the supplement depends on the minimum subsistence level for individuals who have lost their ability to work.

In 2026, this indicator increased to 2595 Hryvnias.

Since the supplement amounts to 50% of the minimum subsistence level, its current size reaches approximately 1297 Hryvnias for each dependent in the family.

The material notes that even such a relatively small supplement helps many families cover expenses for:

  1. medications;

  2. utilities;

  3. food products.

How to obtain the supplement to the military pension

To receive the supplement, a military pensioner needs to submit an application to the Pension Fund of Ukraine.

It is also necessary to provide documents that confirm:

  • the status of dependents;

  • their dependency;

  • the right to receive the supplement.

The procedure for calculating such payments is regulated by the law of Ukraine 'On Pension Provision for Persons Discharged from Military Service and Some Other Persons'.

After the start of the full-scale war, the number of families where military pensioners support elderly parents or disabled individuals has significantly increased. Because of this, such supplements have become an important part of the social support system.

For many Ukrainian families, even a supplement of 1297 Hryvnias helps compensate for some of the costs of treatment and basic needs amidst constantly rising prices.

It should be noted that in March 2026, some military pensioners who appealed their pensions through the court did not receive indexing. The Pension Fund of Ukraine explained this situation by the staff shortage, which is approximately 50%, and the necessity for manual processing of cases.
