A road accident occurred near Korosten - a freight train derailed. The reasons for the incident are currently being investigated. This information was disseminated by the press service of 'Ukrzaliznytsia', as reported by the publication 'Glavkom'.
Due to malfunctions on the adjacent track, the locomotive crew of passenger train No. 45/46 Kharkiv - Uzhhorod was forced to make a sudden stop. As a result, the locomotive of this passenger train went off the rails.
Fortunately, there were no injuries among the passengers. However, one woman received a cut from glass, but she received the necessary medical assistance at the scene of the incident.
Injured personnel and changes in train schedules
During the accident, the driver and assistant driver of the freight train were injured. Both were hospitalized and are receiving the necessary assistance. It is also known that the mentioned passenger train will experience significant delays in its further movement.
As a result of the accident, there will be an impact on the movement of other trains, with expected delays of about three hours. Some routes have already been redirected through other stations, such as Shepetivka, Kozyatin, and Fastiv.
Currently, trains that were supposed to stop in Korosten will bypass this station and will proceed via other routes. Shuttle transfers for passengers from Shepetivka to Korosten and back have been organized. 'Ukrzaliznytsia' is working on restoring traffic on the overpass and is trying to speed up the movement of transport that is temporarily changing its route.
Despite the road accident, there were no injuries among the passengers. The freight train derailed, the incident caused significant delays in train movements, but 'Ukrzaliznytsia' is actively working on restoring traffic and organizing passenger transfers to alternative transport.
