On Saturday, June 19, information about significant smoke emissions in the area of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is under the occupation of Russian troops, and the disconnection of parts of the Zaporizhzhia region, appeared on the internet. However, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine reported that there is no direct threat to nuclear safety from the NPP, as reported by 'Glavkom.'

According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the smoke in the area of the station is related to a forest fire. It is important to emphasize that the center of the fire is located at a safe distance from the nuclear power plant and poses no threat to its structures.

Thus, at present there is no threat to nuclear safety due to this smoke. The Ministry of Energy also confirmed that the power transmission lines connecting the Zaporizhzhia NPP to Ukraine's energy system are operating stably. This provides reliable external power to the station, which is critically important for maintaining radiation safety.

Energy Minister Svitlana Grynychuk emphasized that due to the actions of the occupiers, the station has experienced a blackout nine times, caused by shelling and damage to the power transmission lines. Even under the occupation of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Ukraine continues to ensure its electricity supply to maintain safety.

It is noted that Russia is deliberately attacking Ukrainian energy facilities, which threatens nuclear safety. UN Secretary-General António Guterres expressed strong condemnation of Russia's attacks on Ukraine and warned of the threat to nuclear safety as a result of these actions.

As a result of the smoke at the Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is under the occupation of Russian military forces, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine pointed out the lack of a direct threat to nuclear safety. The power transmission lines are operating stably, ensuring reliable external power to the station.
