In the first nine months of this year, international non-resident companies providing electronic services to individuals on the territory of Ukraine paid UAH 10.6 billion in the so-called 'Google tax'. This was reported by the State Tax Service.
'We are recording positive dynamics compared to the same period in 2024: the number of registered taxpayers increased by 13, and the amount of tax liabilities rose by UAH 2.5 billion,' said Acting Head of the State Tax Service Lesya Karnauh.
Among the largest taxpayers this year, Apple, Google, Valve, Meta, Sony, Etsy, Netflix, Wargaming, Bolt, OpenAI, eBay, and other companies contributed to the Ukrainian budget. Since January 1, 2022, a total of 141 VAT payers among non-residents providing electronic services to individuals have been registered in Ukraine.
'Transparent rules of operation for all - both Ukrainian companies and global giants. This is what truly changes the tax culture, strengthens the trust of every taxpayer, and accordingly contributes to increased revenues. Fair competition conditions are one of the main requests of businesses, especially in wartime. And our task is to ensure that Ukrainian businesses are not in worse conditions than global companies,' emphasized Lesya Karnauh.
The tax service reminded that the duty to register arises if the total amount of supplies over the last 12 months exceeds UAH 1,000,000.
The Ukrainian State Tax Service reported that international companies providing electronic services in Ukraine paid a substantial sum in the 'Google tax'. Among the main taxpayers of this tax are major global companies such as Apple, Google, Valve, Meta, and others. It was noted that the Ukrainian tax system is improving, simplifying processes for all taxpayers.
