The National Bank of Ukraine is preparing to introduce taxes on parcels up to 150 euros and on 'non-critical' goods, which include electric cars and luxury items. This decision is outlined in the NBU's Inflation Report aimed at reducing the import of goods and the currency deficit.

With these measures, the central bank intends to reduce currency outflow and support the country's budget. This may lead to an increase in prices for goods for Ukrainians, but it will help support the national currency.

The importance of cooperation

Experts believe that the NBU's new measures will hardly affect manufacturers of military equipment who enjoy exemptions. Nevertheless, for military personnel who independently upgrade equipment, this could become an issue due to additional costs for duties and taxes.
