With the start of summer vacations, some privileges for public transport fares in Chernivtsi will be temporarily suspended. Starting July 1, schoolchildren and students will have to pay more for trips on buses and trolleybuses, while certain categories of passengers will switch to full fare until the beginning of the new academic year. Fare increase in Chernivtsi: what will change for students
Starting July 1, schoolchildren will no longer be able to use the discounted fare on buses. If during the school year the fare for them was 10 hryvnias, during the summer break they will have to pay the full ticket price.
Currently, one trip on a city bus costs 20 hryvnias. Thus, for students, the fare will effectively double.
The restrictions will be in effect throughout the entire summer period and will end on September 1, when the new school year begins.
Summer travel for students will also become more expensive
For students, the changes will affect trolleybus transport. Starting July 1, they will lose the right to the discounted fare and will have to pay full fare for trips.
Instead of 8 hryvnias for one trip, students will have to pay 16 hryvnias. Therefore, the fare for this category of passengers will also increase by double.
At the same time, for schoolchildren, the discount on electric transport will remain even during the holidays.
Free rides on trolleybuses will remain
According to the Chernivtsi trolleybus administration, students can still travel for free on trolleybuses during the summer. To do this, they need to have a student transport card and validate it for each trip.
Currently, the fare for trolleybuses in Chernivtsi is 16 hryvnias, and for buses 20 hryvnias per trip.
The changes are related to the end of the academic year and will be in effect until the beginning of September.
It should be noted that a new children's sandbox named Maldives has opened in the Central Park of Culture and Leisure named after Taras Shevchenko in Chernivtsi. The cost of using this sandbox is 150 hryvnias for the entire day.
