Creation of a fake Telegram channel in the regional center


The police of the Cherkasy region reported that individuals have been detained for creating a fake Telegram channel where they posed as a well-known Ukrainian figure to raise funds for the needs of the Ukrainian army. This was reported by the source 'Glavkom'.



The main figures in this fraudulent scheme turned out to be a 36-year-old man and his 33-year-old girlfriend, who collected funds for drones for the military, posing as a well-known journalist and public figure.

During a search of the apartment of the detained individuals, law enforcement found bank cards, SIM cards, computer equipment, and mobile phones with conversations that confirmed their criminal activities.


According to preliminary data, the investigation has completed its inquiry and transferred the case to court under Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, for which they could face up to three years in prison.
