Ukraine Braces for a Wintry Mix of Snow, Freezing Rain, and Fog on February 25

Україна готується до небезпечних погодних умов: сніг, ожеледиця та туман 25 лютого.

Weather Forecast for Ukraine on February 25

The Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center warns that cloudy skies and precipitation are expected across the country on Sunday, February 25. A low-pressure system linked to a cyclone over the Sea of Azov will draw in moist air, creating unsettled conditions.

Light wet snow and rain will fall over most of Ukraine, with more intense precipitation forecast for the far south and overnight in eastern regions. Icy glaze is expected to form on roads in many areas outside the south, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions. This type of winter weather is common in late February as transitional seasons bring volatile conditions.

Visibility will be further reduced by fog, which will cover most northern, central, and southern regions overnight and into the morning. Temperatures throughout the day will range from -2°C to +3°C. The warmest readings of +1°C to +6°C are anticipated during the day in the Transcarpathian region and the south. A northwesterly wind of 5-10 m/s will prevail.

Weather Conditions in Kyiv

The capital, Kyiv, will also experience cloudy weather with periods of light wet snow and rain. Fog is possible overnight and in the morning, with patchy ice forming on roads. Temperatures in the Kyiv region will fluctuate between -2°C and +3°C, while the city itself will see highs of 0°C to +2°C throughout the day.

The forecast indicates a shift in weather that could significantly impact daily life, particularly for transport and road safety. The anticipated precipitation and ice may complicate travel, so drivers are advised to exercise caution. The widespread fog will also reduce visibility, a factor to consider for any journeys. Adhering to traffic rules and preparing for potential delays is essential under these conditions.
