Weather Forecast for the Weekend of February 14-15
Significant weather changes are expected across Ukraine this weekend, according to meteorologist Natalka Didenko. A thaw and rain will arrive on Saturday, but conditions will deteriorate sharply on Sunday as a new cyclone approaches. This system will bring wet snow, heavy precipitation, and storm-force winds. Following the storm, cooler air is forecast to return around February 16-17.
Saturday and Sunday Conditions
On Saturday, February 14, a cyclone centered over the Dnipropetrovsk region will influence Ukraine's weather. Rain is forecast for the east, south, and central areas. The west may see light showers, while the north will experience cloudy, damp conditions with fog. In southern regions, temperatures will range from +5 to +10 degrees Celsius, while Kyiv will see highs around +3 degrees.
However, on Sunday, February 15, an active cyclone will cause a dramatic shift. The forecast calls for wet snow, snow accumulation, heavy precipitation, and storm-force winds. Significant rainfall, with possible downpours, is expected in southern and eastern Ukraine. After the cyclone passes, cooler air will return around February 16-17. While the drop in temperature will be noticeable, it is not expected to be as severe as in previous cold spells.
Meteorologist Natalka Didenko warned that Saturday's warming could lead to hazardous conditions, including melting snow and ice, snowpack shifts, and an increased risk of avalanches in mountainous areas.

She urged the public to exercise caution, highlighting risks such as puddles hiding patches of ice and falling icicles from rooftops.
This forecast highlights a period of volatile weather for Ukraine, which could pose risks to public safety. Heeding meteorologists' warnings and taking necessary precautions is essential to avoid potential dangers. This is particularly critical for residents of mountainous regions, where the risk of avalanches and snowslides increases significantly during a thaw.
