This week, the weather in Ukraine will suddenly change: summer warmth will be replaced by a sharp drop in temperature, rain, and the first frosts on the ground. The forecast for these changes was provided by meteorologist Natalia Ptuha.
Autumn weather in the middle of the week
According to her, the middle of the week will bring true autumn weather for Ukrainians.
'This week, a change in synoptic processes is expected, which will affect the weather in Ukraine. A cold atmospheric front will come, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature,' — explained Natalia Ptuha.
At the beginning of the week, warm weather will still persist, but cooling is expected from Wednesday. On Monday, September 23, most of Ukraine will remain dry, with only brief rains possible in the west. Tuesday will bring summer heat from +22°C to +28°C in many regions.
Starting September 24, the cold front will begin moving in from the west, bringing rain to the west, north, and Vinnytsia region, while on Wednesday, the precipitation will shift eastward. Along with the rain, there will be a significant drop in temperature.
Temperature drop in Ukraine
Daytime temperatures on September 24-25 will drop to +11...+16°C in most regions, while in the south and Transcarpathia, it will be slightly warmer, up to +14...+19°C. At night on September 25-26, temperatures are expected to reach +2...+7°C.
'In the western, northern, and partially central regions, even weak frosts on the soil surface are possible,' — warn the Ukrhydrometcentre.
With the cooling, the wind direction will change, shifting to the north, bringing cold air. Wind speeds will range from 5 to 12 m/s. After the front passes, the high pressure will lead to the cessation of precipitation, but the cold weather will remain.
