Правоохоронці Києва ліквідували підпільну лабораторію з виробництва амфетаміну, що приносила величезний прибуток.

Kyiv Drug Lab Dismantled by Police

Kyiv police have dismantled an amphetamine production facility and detained two individuals. The operation took place in the Ukrainian capital, where the lab was set up in an apartment belonging to the mother of one of the organizers. The two detained Kyiv residents, aged 39 and 42, both have prior convictions for drug-related crimes. Preliminary information indicates the organizers' monthly income was approximately 500,000 Ukrainian hryvnias.

Searches conducted as part of the case led to the seizure of amphetamine, laboratory equipment, electronic scales, and zip-lock bags. The suspects were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and face charges under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Under Ukrainian law, this charge carries a potential penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Operation Rubicon

This raid was part of a large-scale special operation named "Rubicon," conducted in February. During this nationwide crackdown, over 500 searches were carried out across 21 regions of Ukraine. Authorities identified four organized groups and one criminal organization specializing in the manufacture and distribution of synthetic cathinones, amphetamine, methamphetamine, and mephedrone. In total, Operation Rubicon resulted in the dismantling of 34 drug labs and 74 storage facilities.

The searches for Operation Rubicon were conducted in the following areas:

  • Kyiv
  • Vinnytsia Oblast
  • Volyn Oblast
  • Zhytomyr Oblast
  • Zakarpattia Oblast
  • Zaporizhzhia Oblast
  • Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast
  • Kyiv Oblast
  • Kirovohrad Oblast
  • Lviv Oblast
  • Mykolaiv Oblast
  • Odesa Oblast
  • Poltava Oblast
  • Rivne Oblast
  • Sumy Oblast
  • Ternopil Oblast
  • Kharkiv Oblast
  • Khmelnytskyi Oblast
  • Cherkasy Oblast
  • Chernivtsi Oblast
  • Chernihiv Oblast

The shutdown of the Kyiv lab highlights the intensified efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement in combating drug crime. This crackdown is part of a broader strategy to disrupt the supply of synthetic drugs, which have become a significant problem in the region. Operation Rubicon, with its wide geographical reach, demonstrates a comprehensive approach to detecting and dismantling drug-trafficking networks, which could significantly impact the drug trade situation in the country. The arrest of individuals involved in drug manufacturing also underscores the importance of judicial accountability in this context.
