Kyiv Police Reveals the Most Bizarre Calls to 102: From UFOs to a Bat in an Apartment

Київські правоохоронці діляться найкурйознішими дзвінками на гарячу лінію: від прибульців до кажанів у квартирах.

Bizarre Requests to Kyiv Police

Kyiv Police has published a compilation of bizarre requests received on the emergency line 102 over the past year, emphasizing the importance of each call. Every day, law enforcement receives thousands of calls, some of which are complex, and even funny situations.

Among the unusual incidents reported, one notable case involved staging the arrest of Santa Claus in a club in the Holosiivskyi district. As a result, an employee of the establishment received a fine of 34 thousand hryvnias. Also on the list of bizarre calls are incidents where:

  • a woman requested action against a man who was climbing onto the roof of a building;
  • a man reported that he could not connect to Wi-Fi.

Other calls are equally strange. For example, one resident of Kyiv called the police to complain about a glowing dot in the sky, suspecting it was a UFO. Another woman complained about an air alarm when opening her window, while yet another man did not manage to purchase methadone due to the arrest of a drug dealer. Additionally, a girl reported a bat that ended up in her apartment.

Furthermore, one Kyiv resident complained about the confiscation of drugs by police officers, and a woman requested the allocation of a police officer to pick up her child from kindergarten. These examples illustrate the variety of requests law enforcement faces daily, emphasizing that every call matters.

The Importance of Proper Use of Emergency Line 102

Such bizarre cases demonstrate that not all calls to the police are related to serious offenses, but it is important that law enforcement responds to all citizens' signals. This also highlights the need for public education on the proper use of the emergency line 102 to avoid unnecessary calls that can distract the police from fulfilling their primary duties. At the same time, these cases add a certain color to the daily work of law enforcement and show that their activities can be not only serious but also occasionally comedic.
