13 Arrested and 600 Cocaine Doses Worth $67,000 Seized by Kyiv Police in Major Drug Ring Bust

Київські правоохоронці ліквідували потужну наркотичну мережу, затримавши 13 осіб та вилучивши значну кількість кокаїну на суму 67 тисяч доларів.

Kyiv Drug Network Dismantled in Coordinated Raids

Ukrainian authorities have taken down a sophisticated drug trafficking operation in the capital, seizing approximately 600 doses of cocaine valued at around 2.5 million hryvnias (roughly $67,000). The operation led to the arrest of 13 individuals, including the alleged ringleader, a 22-year-old Kyiv resident. This crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to disrupt illegal narcotics networks operating in major cities.

Detectives from the Shevchenkivskyi district police received intelligence about an organized group that had established a stable supply and distribution channel for cocaine. According to police statements, the group built an extensive sales network using a private encrypted messaging channel. Drugs were sold either through direct delivery or in-person handoffs. To evade detection, suspects frequently swapped rental cars and changed residences, communicating exclusively through encrypted apps.

"To avoid exposure, the suspects minimized direct contact with each other," law enforcement officials noted.

Operation Results and Seizures

The final phase of the special operation unfolded simultaneously in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and the city of Dnipro. It involved criminal police units, investigators, special forces, and forensic experts. Beyond the cocaine haul, authorities confiscated a cache of items including:

  • large amounts of cash,
  • mobile phones,
  • packaging materials,
  • digital scales,
  • 13 vehicles.

Those arrested face charges under Article 307, Part 3 of Ukraine's Criminal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison plus asset forfeiture. A court has ordered pretrial detention for all suspects.

This operation follows a similar success in May, when Kyiv authorities dismantled an interregional cocaine supply channel, seizing drugs worth nearly 8 million hryvnias. Separately, the Solomianskyi district prosecutor's office in Kyiv recently concluded an investigation into six members of an organized group running an amphetamine lab.

The crackdown is part of a broader Ukrainian law enforcement campaign against drug trafficking, which remains a persistent challenge nationwide. Recent victories in dismantling narcotics networks signal an intensified government response to organized crime. The seizure of large drug shipments and the arrest of suppliers underscore the importance of interagency cooperation in this critical area.

In addition to this recent cocaine bust, law enforcement continues to target various drug-related operations in Kyiv. For instance, a previous crackdown uncovered a ring involved in the sale of cannabis-infused candies and vapes, illustrating the ongoing challenge authorities face in combating narcotics distribution in the city.
