Identifying Russian Military Personnel Involved in War Crimes
Ukraine's National Police have identified two additional servicemen from the Russian Federation implicated in war crimes committed during the temporary occupation of the village of Bohdanivka in the Kyiv region. These soldiers are confirmed to be members of the 239th Tank Regiment, part of the 90th Tank Division of Russia's Central Military District. They are accused of unlawfully detaining local residents in horrific conditions and torturing a police officer.

The atrocities occurred between March 19 and 21, when the invaders deprived local civilians of their liberty. One of the detainees was a police officer who was in civilian clothes at the time. He and two other civilians were captured, beaten, and forcibly dragged into a basement, where they were held without food or water in unsanitary conditions.
“The guard was brutally tortured, then thrown unconscious into a pit for well equipment, which was sealed with a metal cover. The other two prisoners were also thrown in there,” the National Police of Ukraine press service reported.
Following the de-occupation of Bohdanivka, the body of the tortured policeman has not been found, and the third civilian remains missing. Law enforcement has charged the Russian servicemen with mistreatment of civilians and violations of the laws and customs of war.
