Risks of Internal Conflict in Ukraine and Russia
Political analyst Yuriy Romanenko has issued a warning about the potential for internal conflicts in both Ukraine and Russia, drawing a direct comparison to the events of 1917. He attributes this risk to problems with military mobilization and the treatment of service members. In his monologue, Romanenko noted that Russia in 1917 experienced the disintegration of its army and a November revolution, a pattern that could serve as a model for current developments.
Romanenko pointed out that Ukrainian authorities are attempting to devise mechanisms to resolve the personnel crisis on the front lines. One proposed solution involves the recruitment of mercenaries.
"I simply know that those at the top are now trying to find some mechanisms to resolve these issues. And engaging mercenaries is, of course, one answer to these questions,"he stated. The analyst's comments come amid a protracted war of attrition where manpower has become a critical strategic resource for both sides.
Treatment of Mercenaries and Conflict Risks
The political analyst also stressed that the risk of internal conflict exists in both Ukraine and Russia.
"Incidentally, Russia could also be affected, because when we cite arguments that we will plunge into an internal civil conflict if the war ends, for some reason they exclude the possibility of the same thing happening in Russia,"Romanenko remarked. He highlighted that Russia has amassed a large number of combat veterans, including many with criminal backgrounds, who could become a destabilizing force.
Furthermore, Romanenko expressed concern regarding the treatment of mercenaries.
"But I think that if mercenaries are treated with the same contemptuous, beastly attitude as many commanders show, and they start being thrown into various positions without proper support, then this model will quickly collapse,"
he said. The analyst also called for a greater appreciation of human resources:"If we begin to value people from abroad because we have suddenly realized the value of human resources, since it's impossible to continue the war without them... then what prevents us from starting to acknowledge our own mistakes here and now?"
.Thus, Yuriy Romanenko's statements underscore the critical importance of resolving personnel issues and ensuring proper treatment of military personnel, as these factors could significantly impact stability in both Ukraine and Russia. In the context of ongoing war and the profound social challenges facing both nations, effective human resource management has become essential to averting internal strife and maintaining societal stability.
