Fighters in Captivity
Fighters of battalion K-2 along with the 118th brigade of territorial defense captured two citizens of Cameroon in the Seversk direction. The foreigners claim they were deceived into joining the Russian troops directly from the airport in Moscow. This information was published by the battalion on YouTube, as reported by 'Glavkom'.
One of the captives, Metugena Una-na Jean Pafe, flew to Moscow for work at a shampoo manufacturing plant. The other citizen of Cameroon, Anatoly Frank, arrived in the capital for dental treatment. However, they were detained by immigration services right at the airport, after which they were pressured to sign a contract for military service. One was promised 1 million 100 thousand rubles for participation in the war, which, although less than what Russian citizens receive, is a significant amount for Cameroon.
How Cameroonians Ended Up in the War Against Ukraine?
Unexpected Exchange
During his first combat outing, Metugena Una-na Jean Pafe came under fire but escaped and surrendered to Ukrainian troops. Anatoly Frank was sent to storm and ended up in the armed forces of Ukraine.
Previously, Russian captive Andrey Andreev explained his decision to go to war against Ukraine. He regularly threatened to kill Ukrainians but later clarified that he missed home and decided to join the militants.
The capture of two citizens of Cameroon in the war against Ukraine revealed unexpected circumstances in the story. Their transition from planning work or dental treatment to being coerced into military service reflects the complexity and danger faced by peaceful citizens in wartime.
