The wedding announcement became a turning point for the captured occupier
The captured occupier named Gennady Teplyaev admitted that he decided to plead guilty because of his desire to get married. He shared this in the project 'I Want to Live'.
A man from Tashkent, who did not have Russian citizenship, decided that to marry in Ossetia, he needed to obtain it. Teplyaev decided to respond to an announcement about obtaining citizenship in exchange for a contract with the Ministry of Defense. However, the implementation of the promise was delayed for a whole year.
“I should not have been here. This is not my war”
After 10 days of captivity and a shoulder injury, the occupier was exchanged. Currently, Ukraine continues the process of returning its compatriots from captivity in accordance with the terms of agreements reached in Istanbul with the Russian side. The returned individuals will receive medical examinations, support in physical and psychological rehabilitation, as well as the necessary payments for the time spent in captivity.
The capturing of the occupier, who spoke about his dream of marriage as a way out of the situation, reflects the complexities and tragic consequences of the war in Ukraine for all its participants. It also emphasizes the importance of a humane approach and international cooperation in the matter of returning prisoners and hostages.
