Construction of fortification systems in Poland
Poland has begun the construction of fortification and air defense systems on its eastern border. The total cost of the project exceeds 2 billion euros, and it aims to protect the country from drones and other threats from Russia and Belarus. The first elements of the new 'anti-drone shield' are expected to be operational within 6 months, and the full completion of the project is planned within 24 months.
System composition and funding
The system will be designed to address various levels of threats, ranging from reconnaissance devices to strike drones. It will consist of:
- military complexes to suppress attacks,
- multi-barrel machine guns,
- artillery guns,
- anti-aircraft missiles,
- electronic warfare means.
The new fortifications will be part of the global project 'Eastern Shield'. Funding for the project will come from European funds within the SAFE program.
As Caesar Tomchik noted, 'the new system will be integrated into the existing defense line but will receive a technological upgrade.'
