Poland Prepares New Military Aid Package for Ukraine
Poland is assembling its 48th package of military assistance for Ukraine, valued at 200 million zloty (approximately $50 million). This latest shipment will consist of armored vehicles, intended to bolster Ukrainian forces as the conflict continues. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk noted that the previous, 47th aid package was worth about 100 million zloty and primarily comprised 155mm ammunition, which has already been delivered to Ukraine.
Discussions on Potential Fighter Jet Transfer
While preparing the 48th package, Donald Tusk also discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy the potential transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets. Tusk stated that Poland would work on this possibility, assuring that if the MiGs are needed, Poland is ready to deliver them at any moment. In turn, Ukraine has expressed readiness for a reciprocal exchange, offering its drones in return for these fighter aircraft.
Ukraine's Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, held talks with Poland's Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. Their conversation focused on:
- joint defense projects
- strengthening short-range air defense capabilities
- Ukraine's aviation capacity
In related support, Sweden and Denmark also plan to provide Ukraine with air defense systems, funding the purchase of weaponry worth over 246 million euros. Minister Fedorov additionally noted that Ukraine anticipates further deliveries of Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets from France.
