In Poland, there are proposals to increase the amount of money that foreigners need to confirm for entry and stay in the country. For short trips of up to four days, the minimum may rise to 1000 zlotys. The requirements for Ukrainians regarding money at the border with Poland have already been explained by Inkorr. RMF24 reports on the new draft changes.
The draft regulation has been published on the website of the Government Legislation Centre of Poland. As the document has not yet come into force, the amounts mentioned are merely proposals and not mandatory requirements.
What amounts are being proposed for entry into Poland
According to the draft, for a stay of up to four days, a foreigner will need to have at least 1000 zlotys. Currently, the minimum is 300 zlotys.
If the trip lasts longer, it is proposed to increase the requirement from 75 to 300 zlotys for each day of stay. The availability of funds can also be confirmed in foreign currency — to an amount equivalent to the established threshold.
There are lower requirements for certain categories of visitors. This includes participants in tourist trips, youth camps, and sports competitions, as well as people with prepaid accommodation or treatment. For them, it is proposed to establish a sum of 130 zlotys per day, but not less than 650 zlotys in total. The current thresholds are 20 zlotys per day and at least 100 zlotys.
Certain categories of foreigners may not be required to confirm the availability of funds. Inkorr previously told who does not need to show money when crossing the Polish border.

How much students and researchers need to have
The changes may affect foreigners coming to Poland for study, courses, scientific research, or research work. For the first two months of stay, it is proposed to establish a minimum amount of 2020 zlotys instead of the current 1270.
In the explanation of the draft, it is noted that the current amounts have not been reviewed since 2016. During this time, prices for goods and services have increased, so the Ministry of the Interior and Administration of Poland considers the previous thresholds outdated. The proposed amount should correspond to the minimum level of funds necessary to cover the basic needs of an individual.
The new rules are planned to be implemented 30 days after the official publication of the regulation. While the draft is going through the legislative process, those planning to study in Poland should keep an eye on the final version of the requirements.
