4.5 Billion Zloty Deal Signed for Poland's Electric Vehicle Plant

Підписано угоду на будівництво заводу електромобілів в Польщі на суму 4,5 мільярда злотих.

Electric Vehicle Factory Takes Shape in Poland

Poland has finalized a funding agreement to build an electric vehicle manufacturing facility, marking a major milestone for the nation's automotive sector. The plant will be located in Jaworzno, within the Silesian Voivodeship. Total investment in the industrial infrastructure will reach 4.5 billion zloty, sourced from the National Recovery Plan (KPO) and the Reprivatization Fund.

A technology partnership with Foxconn ensures full transfer of manufacturing know-how. Polish State Assets Minister Wojciech Balczun stated that the facility will operate as a closed-loop production complex, complete with its own research and development (R&D) center. The goal is to achieve up to 70% local production content.

Electric Models and Their Specifications

The new brand's electric vehicle lineup will include three models:

  • Urban SUV
  • B-segment hatchback/sedan
  • C-segment car

The urban SUV caters to the most popular format among modern European drivers, the B-segment hatchback/sedan is designed as a compact and affordable city car, and the C-segment model targets the classic family market. All three will be built on Foxconn's open modular platform.

The first 100,000 Polish-made electric vehicles are scheduled for serial production in 2029. Climate and Environment Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska emphasized the significance of developing a homegrown electric car, stating:

This is not just about prestige but also a pillar of long-term energy security and technological sovereignty for Europe. — Paulina Hennig-Kloska

Ultimately, the construction of Poland's electric vehicle plant represents a strategic push toward advanced technology and reduced reliance on imported cars.

This initiative underscores Poland's ambition to become a key player in Europe's rapidly expanding electric vehicle market. It is also expected to boost the regional economy by generating new jobs and attracting investment in related industries. Moreover, the project could serve as a blueprint for other nations aiming to build their own automotive capacity while lowering transportation-related environmental impact.

In addition to advancements in electric vehicle production, Poland is also investing in infrastructure to enhance connectivity with its neighbors. A recent initiative to finance a new highway linking Poland to Lviv in Ukraine reflects the country’s commitment to regional development. This infrastructure project aims to bolster trade and facilitate transportation, aligning with Poland's broader strategy for growth and innovation.
